Microsoft probeert het weer… De softwaregigant wil Google van de troon stoten met de rebranded versie van Live Search: Kumo.com. Een interne test gaat een dezer dagen van start. Dit blijkt uit een interne mail van Search Executive Satya Nadella:

Subject: Announcement: Internal Search Test Experience

The Search team needs you. We’ve been working hard to improve our search service and want to share the progress we are making with you. We are launching a new test program called kumo.com for employees to try and provide feedback. [..]

We believe we can provide a better and more useful search experience that helps you not just search but accomplish tasks. During the test, features will vary by country, but you’ll see results organized in a way that saves you more time. An explorer pane on the left side of results pages will give you access to tools that help you with your tasks. Other features like single session history and hover preview help accomplish more in search sessions.

24 juli 2007 aangekondigd, vandaag is het gelukt, FaceBook heeft Windows Live Search geintegreerd.

Redmond Pie beschrijft hoe de search werkt en is geintegreerd. CNet vraagt zich, terecht af, hoe dit Microsoft gaat helpen als het gaat om traffic en inkomsten. De Microsoft  Live Search blog vertelt ons dat AdCenter de advertenties aan de rechterkant in de zoekresultaten levert. En ook Facebook zelf heeft inmiddels in een post de aankondiging gedaan.

De komende weken zal er meer bekend worden gemaakt aangaande het partnership, ondertussen kun je op de Windows Live Search Facebook pagina je feedback kwijt.

Doet me ineens denken aan een golden oldie van Opus, Live is Life. Jammer dat Facebook of Microsoft deze kans niet hebben gegrepen, mede gezien de songtekst:
